You could actually call this “staying at the one and only Sharjah International Airport Hotel” because basically it is the only hotel near the airport. But, “what if you want to explore Sharjah?” Believe me you do not, this is purely a transit place.

What is Sharjah?
The United Arab Emirates is made up of seven emirates, each with its own ruler and government. They then all get together and play “house”. This means all the government jobs go to the rulers. The most important of these are Dubai and Abu Dhabi, you know the ones you’ve heard of. These are famous for people without personalities going to show off.
Well Sharjah is next in line of importance, it has 2 million people and oil. It is dry though. This means its residents, well male ones go to Dubai etc to get drunk. Some country collectors consider it like a country. I just say its a place you should avoid.
What is the Sharjah International Airport Hotel?
Well it is only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the airport, which would be good except it is hotter than the sun. I tried to do it at night when it was 37 degrees. I failed and ended up dropping $20 on a taxi. It was less to order one to go back.
This is very much an airport hotel with simple, but affordable rooms at $60 a night. This is the UAE after all. There is also a restaurant that I now know closes before midnight. To eat after that there are cafeterias and there is Hardee’s. I got a Harissa Burger and questioned my life choices after.
Amazingly it had a swimming pool though. Not really sure how this works if you are a lass wanting to show off your bikini, after all this is a dry emirate. Dry also means no flesh. I opted against swimming.

Is it worth staying at the Sharjah International Airport Hotel?
If you transit Sharjah then yes, this hotel is great for location and value. In all honesty it is not that bad transiting Sharjah either. This is because while it is boring and dry, in all honesty the whole of the UAE is plastic. Therefore the best thing is to just get in and very much out. In that sense you might as well do it from the most insignificant emirate.
